Chinese titanium dioxide exports in 2020

In january-may 2020, China exported a total of 482,327 tons of titanium dioxide to 128 countries and regions.

India is the biggest importer of Chinese titanium dioxide, with 48,736 tonnes of Chinese titanium dioxide in the first five months of 2020.

In the first quarter of 2020, Chinese titanium dioxide did not see a sharp drop in exports during the covid-19 pandemic, when foreign customers increased their purchases to build inventories.

But in April and May, as the covid-19 pandemic spread further, business activity in the world's major economies was forced to halt, and Chinese titanium dioxide exports fell to an all-time low of less than 50 percent from March.

As titanium dioxide demand fell to historic lows, titanium dioxide prices also fell to new lows in early June 2020, before remaining subdued throughout the month. But by the end of June, the market seemed to sense an opportunity to raise prices, and some dealers began trying to raise them.
